Although I measured my ankle and followed the sizing guide (I fell between sizes, went up one size) this ankle brace was too small for me . I have very small feet and minimal swelling, but I could use a large splint instead of a medium one. That being said the headband is well made and since it laces up I was able to get it to work. To make it more comfortable, I added minimal padding where the brace laces up the foot, perhaps at the narrowest point of the orthosis, and in the crook of the ankle to improve immobilization. The bottom of the bandage is slippery, so be prepared to use non-slip socks or shoes. I don't think a person wearing this brace would be able to wear the same shoe size as without it, although this can be achieved by removing the corset. I am very happy with my purchase and would buy again but in a larger size.
