A solution to the problem of free rotation

Worked about 2 years then the handle started to rotate freely. I was about to make a warranty claim, but then I discovered this: the wooden lid does not have a square hole for the square spindle to rotate in, instead there is a metal disc with three sharp ribs built into the bottom of the lid; which has a square hole that turns the spindle and in my case the metal disc came loose and fell into the pepper chamber. I shook it out, put it back in the bottom of the slab and my chipper started again. I expect it to fall out again, don't know how long it will take. Maybe I'll try glue next time.

Pros
  • pepper grinders
Cons
  • boring packaging
