I don't know why they didn't put a lip on the back of the carpet but as you can see in the picture your salty snow and water is dripping right off back on the carpet. Too bad because I thought these liners were meant to protect your carpet. I think they do for the most part, except in this one area. I see this as a design flaw. For those wondering, my driveway and where I regularly park is on a slope. I park on level ground. There is simply no lip on the back to keep water in the mat. Check out others. I believe there are some who have.
