I installed an ECO 27 instantaneous water heater because our electric water heater tank just couldn't handle the need of three daughters - teenagers in the house. Overall we are happy with this purchase. Installation wasn't too difficult. And now in summer we can easily use two showers to capacity. In winter, the heating can hardly cope with two showers at the same time. Installation Details: Our tank heater was located in a closet and only 20 feet from our electric meter and master switch, which was very helpful. The electrical connections are simple and clear. All clamps feel solid and accept cables flawlessly. The plumbing was as simple as a heater can be. I bought a flexible hose to make it easier. I also bought a filter to keep the water heater running without worrying about scaling. Water heater performance details: According to the map on the EcoSmart water heater website, we live in the yellow zone. According to the map we should be able to run two low flow showers AND two faucets at the same time. With all the girls in the house, we gave up low pressure shower heads a long time ago. They just don't work for rinsing long hair, at least that's what I've been told many times. Simply put, with two normal jets at the same time, the Eco 27 can't compete in the yellow zone in the middle of winter. If someone fills the bath, everyone else should stop using hot water at that point. Our outside temperatures have been as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit, but mostly stayed in the low 20's during the winter months. This heater struggled with multitasking during the winter months. It just couldn't keep up. BUT - you took turns taking as many hot showers as you wanted and all the women in my house were very happy. One at a time, everyone could shower for an hour if they wanted to (they didn't because of the environment and all, but they could). My wife even liked that she could fill her tub with hot water even after all three girls had just showered. Now that summer is here we can shower as needed. Running two showers and a load of laundry at the same time is no problem. I can even take a shower while my wife fills the tub. No problem. Unlimited hot water for everyone. If I had to do it all over again I would still choose Eco 27. That's enough and the next step is 36, which requires four 40A breakers. My system couldn't support a heater of this size so I went with 27. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase. If we ever needed a different heater for this app I would buy the Eco 27 again. Also, people have mentioned that the LEDs flicker when the heater is on. We've experienced this in our house several times, but not every time. It's weird, but not enough to bother us. When someone starts bathing, the light will flicker a little and then stop.
