When I received it, the laser stars weren't working. At the same time, I ordered a more expensive unit and it works great but costs $25 versus $7. Instead of sending it back I decided to open it up and take a look. both the upper part "lens" and the lower part "cable" are unscrewed. When I unscrewed the base I found that the ground wire had come loose from the solder pad. I broke my soldering iron and re-soldered the ground wire and it worked. This laser starlight only illuminates a 4-foot section of the ceiling. Another brand I bought illuminates a much larger portion of the ceiling. As a gag, this $7 model will do, but if you want to use it for ghost hunting I recommend buying the $25 band name.
