Review on πŸ“» Radioddity GS-5B: Dual Band Long Range Bluetooth Handheld Ham Radio with Dual PTT for Two Way Communication, USB Rechargeable, S-Meter, Programming Cable, Rainproof Design by Eric Nelso

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not sure! Might start a fire! Thermal melt design flaw!

FIX 2: The second radio has the same thermal event as it is stuck in transmit mode with the programming cable attached. Even tried other cables, always the same result, and tried other popular YouTube HAM channels and got the same results. It appears to be a defect in the radio itself, not the cable. As a result, this radio has a serious internal design flaw and is unsafe to use and may cause a fire! UPDATE 1: When I connected it to my PC for programming, the radio worked. switched off, the device cannot be switched on and the battery was too hot to touch! Almost set my house on fire! After doing a little research I found that this is a common problem with this radio. How do these people generally feel about the business? First Review: Wow I really wanted this radio to please me but it just stopped me from pushing through a lot of great promising features but too many details left out during production make this radio much more difficult and frustrating to use than my BaoFengs, which already have a reputation for being difficult. PC channel programming software (up to Windows 95 in terms of usability): 1. No resizing of the frequency list window, so you have to keep scrolling left/right and up/down to save your space.2. No copy/cut/paste from one line to another to speed up frequency programming3. No copy/cut/paste with keyboard shortcuts (need to right click every time - awful)4. No pasting data from an external source like Excel (each frequency must be entered separately, one at a time - Pure Evil)5. Doesn't support generic CTCSS tones (like 254.1) which means they're not compatible with many repeaters (even my cheap $30 BaoFeng does). Doesn't display user-entered channel names correctly3. Often transmits incomplete or incorrect data to the radio, requiring the user to diagnose why the Rx/Tx is not working properly. Firmware Updates: 1. According to customer support, firmware updates to fix these issues are not available and will not be offered.
