I used this to drill a hole in the bottom of a $1500 marble pedestal that supports a $9500 marble slab. They were imported from India and made from the particularly hard marble used to build the Taj Mahal. This is my first time drilling through marble and I was nervous about the cost of the socket. It worked great! I used water for cooling and as a lubricant when drilling. Also, I started cutting at about a 30 degree angle from perpendicular to the surface and slowly rotated the bit perpendicular as it began to cut.
