Review on BAORUITENG Handheld Console - Portable Kids' Electronics with Plug & Play Video Games by Kevin Henry

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Premium feeling. Best experience I've had with SNES and PSX portable emulation.

Overall: I've paid well over $$$ for other wearables that have performed worse and appeared to be much cheaper. The stock OS isn't as pretty and intuitive as it could be, but it's lightweight and doesn't seem to affect the emulator's performance much. You can also customize it with alternative launchers/software if you feel bored. In my opinion, it fully justifies its price. Also, there seems to be a fairly active community dedicated to customizing the software. I wouldn't buy it for young children unless you are willing to spend some time playing around for them. Background: I've had several handheld emulation devices including ), GPD-WIN 1st gen, my oldest handheld emulation device is OpenPandora (Linux) so obviously I've been interested in handheld emulation for a while, but I have some great ones Saw reviews on this product and thought I'd take a look. Hardware: When I first got my hands on this thing, I was blown away by the overall quality feel of the device. I love it as I play it more than my Nintendo Switch and it's small enough to fit in my pocket. It's solid, heavy, and the buttons and analog sticks work well. If there's one thing that needs work, it's probably the shoulder buttons. They offer a "clicky" feedback, which is great, but they also have a slightly rough edge on the bottom of the L1 and R1 buttons. If there's anything I could do to improve the quality of the buttons, I'd smooth out those edges a bit. The battery lasts around 4-5 hours of playtime (as always, depending on things like brightness level and software used) but the battery gauge is buggy. At one point I played 30 minutes and he was still at 100%. This is a known issue and I suspect it has either been fixed or will be fixed with a firmware update. Also, I don't think this thing will reliably emulate anything after N64, and N64 is random and not supported by default. There are more powerful handhelds out there that will make your PS2 and beyond dreams come true, but that's not what I bought them for. Gameboy in advance. I can't say anything about other systems. Immediately noticeable is the fact that it only had 512MB of RAM. I've run multiple Android devices with multiples of these and have experienced performance lag when emulating SNES and PSX. I was surprised that I didn't notice any lag or noticeable frame drops at all. I think the high performance is partly due to the fact that the TONY Linux OS is much lighter and less resource intensive than Android, but I was very satisfied. The only downside to the stock PSX emulator is that games have loading times. They're not as long as PSX, but they're there, while PSX Android emulators usually take less time to load. In my opinion it adds a bit of authenticity to the experience, so it's not a huge complaint. Pros: Standard SNES and PSX emulators work well. Doesn't feel cheap/fragile in hands. Small enough to put in your pocket. You might want to put your own collection there.) Analog sticks are crisp. Has R2 and L2 shoulder buttons. Cons (mostly minor things that I knew at the time of purchase): No network connection, you'll have to buy a Wi-Fi adapter if you want it No touch screen Stock OS is functional but a bit unfinished. May be fixed with a firmware update.
