Hardware doesn't work for me

After almost 30 years the quartz movement of my Bulova school clock (9" pendulum) stopped working so I replaced it with this part. With this mechanism the pendulum had a wide swing and banged on each side of the watch as it moved. It kept accurate time for about a day and a half and then stopped working altogether. Not a very good experience for me.
