Stinger Roadkill is a great vibration reduction product. I've read some articles on soundproofing and here are my comments based on my own experience: 1) This is definitely NOT an asphalt based product. Asphalt-based mufflers like FatMat or similar might seem cheap, but they smell bad at high temperatures and don't work as well as they do for soundproofing. The Stinger Roadkill's value for money is likely to be much higher than asphalt-based products. 2) Soundproofing is different from soundproofing. Roadkill is designed to reduce vibration but not block out noise (to do that you need heavy materials separated by foam panels, like mass-load vinyl). I drove my Rav4 onto the freeway after applying roadkill to 4 doors and the rear cargo door and the overall noise level probably stayed the same. HOWEVER, that pesky low/high frequency hiss is gone, which makes a big difference. Tire noise and wind noise are probably just as loud, but Roadkill doesn't really solve these problems (at least not the way I've used it) 3) Roadkill is best applied to the inside of the outer door panel. Applying it to the fairing's plastic lining (the inner plastic lining) helps very little, although some people do, and it can work to a degree. I didn't cover the entire panel as it is difficult to get to the outer door panel without completely disassembling the door (removing the panel on the Rav4 does not give you full access to it). It turns out there's a point where the yields start to taper off - covering about 1/3 of the surface already significantly reduces the vibrations. Common sense on various automotive forums suggests that 25% coverage is adequate for soundproofing purposes. 4) Of the 5 doors I did, the rear cargo door probably made the biggest difference. Even with sedans, the trunk seems to be the weakest link. Most people get out of there first 5) The instructions say the ideal temperature to work with the Roadkill is 70. But I did it when it was 40 degrees outside. It still sticks to metal with no problems. 6) I have no experience with Dynamat, that should be a good product too. But hey, it's a lot cheaper! Overall I have to say this is such a fun project! Hearing improvements are probably one of the most beautiful moments in my life!
