Replaced the original 8GB split into two slots on my Lenovo Y510P (about 2 years ago). I use it for online school. Between word processing and the occasional use of Netflix or HBO GO, I use it for Adobe Creative Cloud apps for my schoolwork/projects. Some data is stored in the cloud (in one form or another) and some needs to stay on disk, but I needed more than 8GB so I upgraded to 16GB. My kid also uses my laptop to program Lego Mindstorm (Lego robotics). It was easy enough to unscrew the back (bottom) of my laptop and turn it off, although I did find an extra screw turning inside (hmm. poor quality control on a Lenovo part), those hiccups aside, I have the new ones built in, closed everything, and that's it loaded just fine. I can't stress enough that you should BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE disabling anything, just in case. So if it doesn't work, you haven't just doomed yourself. But the bottom line is that you understand why I needed the update and on what type of machine, yes it was easy to install (for me) and works as expected for this type of product. For your health!
