Review on ๐Ÿ’ช Efficiently Dispose of Waste with the Waste King Legend Series 1 HP Garbage Disposal with Power Cord - (L-8000) by Black Holstead

It's a eating monster!

, I had problems with my 13 year old Kenmore and had to give it up. My research led me to this Waste King 8000 1hp. Revain was a great price so I took a bite. If you look at my attached photo the difference is amazing. The Kenmore only had 1/3 horsepower, which I didn't know until I took it off and could read the label. No wonder I had problems, and not just because of my age! All the cutting innards were caked and rusted, and it was just a tiny little machine. I cook a lot and need this appliance to work properly. First, all internal cutting components are made of stainless steel, so the cutting components will not corrode. This device is very quiet and very powerful. This is literally a HumVee for my sink to replace the Yugo I use! Some installation tips: I'm a very hands-on person, but it was an easy install. My existing drain line is hooked up with no mods. My department was strongly associated with Romex. I simply added an outlet, turned off the switch, plugged the Romex into the new box into a standard outlet and just plugged the Waste King into it. Much, much easier than trying to reattach that rigid Romex to the bottom of the trash can! Don't use the included rubber drain pad in my opinion, use piping and you're done. $2.50 for a small tub with lots of debris. The padding is comfortable and basic, but it's not as good or durable as putty. You really don't want to redo the drain seal about 4 years (or sooner) in the future. Leaks suck, so get it right the first time to avoid messy damage and forget about it. My installation took less than 2 hours and 2 shakes. I had all the details ready. Here's what I recommend you buy: - If you're wired to Romex, get an outlet and a wall mount box. Two-stage socket for 120V. leave cover. If you already have an outlet, you don't need it. Or you can opt for the luxury of installing an air switch with an integrated outlet. - A small tub of putty for plumbers. Form a small ball, roll into a "snake" that fits end-to-end around the drain flange opposite the drain pipe, and install on the side of the sink. No putty underneath, use a fiber washer under the big nut. Make sure the drain is tight and fully seated, then remove excess putty. Turn the circuit breaker back on and you're in action. This is a very powerful and well thought out food recycling system that will last you for years even with heavy use!
