I have used my Surface Pro 3 (SP3) many times over the past 3.5 years, however the battery life has been deteriorating rapidly so I decided to upgrade to the new Surface Pro. (I don't know why Microsoft would be confusing by not calling it the Surface Pro 5, but I digress.) Here are the biggest improvements in SP3: - Noticeably thinner and lighter. Facilitates handling like a tablet. Fanless i5 version. I don't want to hear the shrill fan noise. Accessory Compatibility: - My SP3 keyboard cover is compatible with this new skin. Saved me about a hundred dollars. My SP3 charger works with this new Surface. Otherwise, the new Surface is almost identical to the SP3, which is a good thing. The best thing about the Surface Pro is the kickstand. . This feature remains just as good with the new Pro and may even work out a bit. If you've never tried a footboard before, this is just awesome. It stows flat on the back for easy positioning and useful in both tablet and laptop modes. The next best thing about the Surface Pro is the optional docking keyboard. Attaching and detaching the keyboard is very easy. The thickness of the keyboard isn't much more than a few sheets of paper, making it easy to slip into a backpack. The charging cable and box are quite compact, which is convenient for portability. It connects with a magnet that is reliable and durable. BACKGROUND The new Surface Pro is a small update to an already great old model. It works well as a tablet and as a portable laptop with a keyboard case.
