Review on Petmate 290980 Tagnabbit Quick Release by Cathy Blount

Fantastic concept, poor product quality

I wanted this product to work. This is an amazing concept - simply open one side of the tag holder, place your pet's tag on the ring and close the ring. Open the other side and attach the tags to your pet's collar. Repeat this process every time you need to change your collar or brand. The problem is that the ring that attaches this device to the pet's collar isn't strong enough to withstand whatever happens to your pet's collar - shaking, leashing, eating, walking, etc. that your active pet otherwise puts on does on a normal day. I used seven tagnabbits on the collars of seven different dogs to put a tag on each collar. Five out of seven failed within 24 hours of being attached to the collar, all at the same spot where the tagnabbit was attached to the collar. The attachment of the tag was held tight on all seven. The five losers were joined by: English Mastiff, German Shepherd, Dachshund-Chihuahua Mix, Am-Staff Terrier, Pit Bull Terrier. All of these dogs are fairly active, but none of them did more than a normal daily activity — walking on a leash, going outside to the potty on a leash, eating in their cages, and rolling around the house. I would be very interested. when you revisit this product when the integrity of the connection with the pet collar improves. As I said before, this is an amazing concept and product that will make my life as a pet owner and babysitter so much easier.
