I was very excited about the prospect of an electric lighter. It sounded a lot more eco-friendly than the collection of half-filled Bic lighters I had strewn about in various bags and drawers. But in the end I was a bit disappointed. The design is sleek and cute, I'll put it on my backpack when I go camping, but overall... I don't quite trust it. This lighter is not invisible. It makes a loud, crackling, high-pitched noise that drives my dogs crazy when you light it, and it doesn't always immediately pick up what you want to light like a candle wick. In fact, it seems to damage the wicks. I have a candle whose wicks burned out immediately after lighting. It does nothing more than my Bic EZ lighter to light my grill. He doesn't light fire toys. It seems to have a long battery life, but I've only used it a couple of times. Also, the only protection this lighter has is the plastic top that protects the pickup pin. Again, I'm willing to take it in an emergency... but I think I'll stick with the Bic or Zippo for safety.
