This is the product I was looking for. I recently learned how to smash hamburgers and cook them at home with a spatula. While I really like my spatula, it's not very good for breaking. I studied crushing tools, including cast iron grill presses and $50 steak weights. I didn't want to buy a burger iron because I thought it would be too small, but I figured it would have to be big enough to make bun-sized burgers. It is so easy. The weight is right and the handle is optimally positioned for the impact of the force. The smooth texture and the fact that it's dishwasher safe are pluses. With a spatula, even a good one, it's difficult to break the hamburger evenly, and it takes a lot of effort to make it thin enough. Because of the handle's position just above the fracture surface, it's very easy to thin a burger so that it's the same thickness. I forgot to buy parchment paper and thought I would have trouble with the burgers sticking. (I've had this issue in the past when I let my spatula get too hot on the grill.) However, moving the hamburger iron to the side as mentioned in the reviews worked great. I don't think I'll be messing around with parchment paper in the future. I've made 2-ounce hamburgers very similar to those found in fast food restaurants and doubled or tripled them. These were the best burgers I've ever made.
