This was a very good gift for a 3 year old and was appreciated by the parents too. It is relatively unique in its simplicity and convenience; I've seen a lot of tent toys with lots of bells and whistles, but they were more complex and bulky. I chose this particular tent after spending several days researching the entire creation looking for a tent that pops up and folds back down in a snap with no extra parts. piece or assembly. I have an old pull out tent that my dog uses as a little hideout and when my niece comes over she just can't get out of this dirty thing! She loves hiding there, playing with toys, spying on people and even just crawling around. I couldn't believe it: I only found two solid tents of this shape/size, both in camouflage, but. she is a three year old princess. I was dying to get her one like mine for a number of reasons aside from the fact that she liked it, but other than the two camouflages there were really very few that fit the criteria. - Pick up and fold. They live in a small house and just don't have room for big toys to stay out of the house all the time. A clumsy tent with poles and setup is a more permanent fixture than one that vanishes instantly, which is just not acceptable in a small home. - One part, no assembly. They are busy working with three other (older) children and as it was a gift the last thing I could bear was to be a burden to them. Setting up sticks and other stuff and then breaking them every time she wanted to play with them would suck, as would having to tell her no, she can't get them out because they're in the way or not. no room. And keeping track of things, or simply opening and storing more than one piece - or worse, losing a piece and rendering the tent unusable - wasn't an extra responsibility I wanted to give away. Parents of a 3 year old will never want *more* tears or *more* trash! - Suitable for a couple/multiple children at the same time. Her siblings are a bit older and *unlikely* want to play with the "childish" toys, but they may want to play or hide in there once in a while, or she may ask them to play inside. The tent had to be big enough to accommodate the other kids just in case. Not huge and bulky, but not tiny either. It had to be big enough to play properly, yet small enough to easily fit in a small space *and* not get in the way when it stands up. I wouldn't want to give a gift that she couldn't play with because it was a disgrace to the rest of the family, or worse, a gift that they left her that would eat up valuable floor space. It had to be easy to use and easy to put away when finished, otherwise I wouldn't give it. There seem to be VERY FEW pop up play tents that meet all of these criteria! The vast majority of children's play tents appear to be either only partially retractable, requiring support poles to be tied on relatively permanently, or fully retractable with no poles but made up of multiple parts such as separate roof and/or floor sections, or even additional 'rooms'. ", or actually be solid and fully expandable, but also SMALL and designed for toddlers or toddlers individually. Innovation maybe. ;) And finally this cute little tent came to my rescue! It's just one piece, fully self-supporting, almost opens up instant and folds/collapses for storage in about 5 seconds Seriously Absolutely NO MACHINE REQUIRED (as with all similar tents the folding technique can be tricky at first but is quickly mastered) It folds down into a flexible mostly fabric Approximately 12" in diameter and no more than an inch thick, the disc folds flat so it can be tucked away in a closet, under a bed, or behind furniture and completely out of the way. It's big enough for 2-3 kids (depending on height /age), but since it's longer than it is wide, it can ride up the wall or between furniture while playing. It's so small and simple that it's It can be taken anywhere and set up and taken down with little to no intervention, which can provide bored kids with some entertainment and maybe even a central spot for a while. . She's had it for 3 months now and it still looks brand new. It gets opened and tucked away a lot and keeps its shape very well, doesn't hang or lean or anything like that. The fabric is clearly durable; no tears, no fights yet. The colors are still vibrant. Not bad, I tell you, for this price! The parents are also apparently very happy with this tent, which was very important to me. It doesn't cost anything to install and remove, so she can have it play almost any time she wants, which happens quite often. She doesn't mind (mostly, huh) taking it away because he might be back soon, so there's minimal tantrums, crying, or added stress over that item. They keep it hidden until the game, completely out of sight and out of the way, and even when it's open it doesn't take over the house. She even makes it to my boring old lady sometimes when she comes and we always know where she is without having to smack her neck or bore her to tears. Plus, the discovery itself always makes for a laugh, at least for a three-year-old child. Hooray! Meet everyone! My only real complaint is that the item description says it's one piece, just slide out, no need to put frames in, but when it arrived there were 3 small poles in the box and neither the assembly nor the poles belonged to me. highest priority! However, it turns out that the little bars go into the fold-down "Utility" window just to make it rigid, which is totally redundant, so they're too optional and don't even count as extras in my opinion. The poles were just thrown away, absolutely no problem. They just made me a little concerned and angry when I saw them in the box! The tent comes out of storage wrinkled when folded and twisted, but that's just unavoidable. Kids don't seem to care about wrinkles anyway, and if you, well, I hope ironing might give you tennis elbow! Also, it does NOT come with a storage pouch or pouch or anything that secures it in a rolled position. This can suck as the tent is designed to take shape so when you roll it up it will pop open and can detach. I still had the bag from my dog's tent (a 13 x 13 x 1 inch plastic bag with a zipper and handles) so I gave it to them, but anything even *vaguely* similar will work around it to hold/carry. Or you can just tie it with string or secure the edges with chip clips or whatever and it will stay in place just fine! Long story short, I absolutely recommend this little tent (or the school bus for a little less pink) for kids and parents alike! Set up is really instant and packs away really only takes 5 seconds or so and it gives the kids space to hide, play, imagine and be kids. The included poles are the definition of optional and the lack of a bag/mount is a very simple fix. I recommend (obviously rare!?) just one piece, a self supporting tent for reasons of space, convenience, time, paddock for kids, entertainment value (distraction?) and lack of stress. If you're looking for a thoughtful GIFT for a young child, I doubt you can go wrong with this one; Children love them and parents don't hate them and maybe even love them.
