The Thinkscan SD4 is a great all-in-one tool for all your vehicle diagnostic needs. From scanning codes to viewing live data to all sorts of resets, this tool can do a lot more than its price suggests. One thing that differs from the Thinkscan SD4 is that it has a long list of reset functions and when you buy the tool it comes with 3 reset functions that you can choose from a large list. The list is very impressive to be honest and being able to choose what I wanted in the tool was a nice feature. I went with the throttle relearn, oil reset and steering angle reset but there are many options and if you want more than the 3 that came with the kit you can choose others directly from the tool to buy. The tool's software is very detailed and can show you much more than just basic information. It even has great charts that you can use to observe sensor output, temperature versus time, or other parameter identifiers in the computer's data stream. The wealth of information this tool offers really shines. When I scanned my Toyota, it had a PID (parameter identifier) for the alternator duty cycle, which lets me know how much power to expect from the charging system. Such information is invaluable when diagnosing modern complex vehicles. I was impressed with the speed of the Thinkscan SD4, it has a very good refresh rate and the menu navigation is fast and smooth. The screen was bright even in daylight, and it felt like the instrument's body could withstand an accidental fall without damaging the instrument. All in all, I would recommend this tool to everyone from professional technicians to owners who want to find out problems on their (or their friends') cars.
