A really necessary purchase, glad I found this product.

Elephandic joy. Before that, the non-radioactive Takumar worked as a portrait painter; he was, without a question, the greatest in drawing, but he grew weary of working with a manual focus. Based on the specs and the results of the tests (not a huge improvement over prior models for the price), I settled on 1.8. When I tried focusing at two different stores, I found that it was either rock solid at the back or wobbly in the front. Some online sources state that back focus is caused by fluorescent lights. But I didn't want to take any chances, so I looked for a third time and found an identical one. And yet, you must decide. The rapid and precise focusing (though in challenging situations it can, of course, crawl like everyone else) and the feeling that the focus ring is attached manually to the lenses rather than via a motor make this camera ideal for professional use. For portraits, I've found that f/1.8 works fine, and at f/2.5, the image is pin-sharp throughout. It's unfortunate that they shrank the filter thread diameter, but it's not a waste of money to invest in a polarizer or neutral density filter for use while shooting in bright sunlight.

Pros
  • No matter what anyone says, you can draw with autofocus and accessibility.
Cons
  • Maybe it's important to pick the right example.
