Review on Effortless Wine Opening Made Easy with the Brookstone Compact Wine Opener by Tutcht Cobb

Just so you know what can happen

We bought this item on 5/3/2016 thinking it might be the last item we need for a long time, mainly because of the good reviews. After claiming it could be used on synthetic corks we were sold. 11/22/2019 no longer works, no longer pulls out the cork. I fix most things in our house from electrical to electronic to mechanical and sometimes I break things. This Chinese made item (printed on the inside of a small chrome spatula) should never be repaired and I cannot repair it as the soft metal casting (see black arrow in image) is not replaceable. This is the part that "sticks" to the rod that pulls the cork up when the lever is lifted. The hole in the part has turned into an oval through normal use/wear and tear and is no longer attached to the rod. So, after 3.5 years of moderate use (drinking 2-3 bottles a week, except for the rare party) we're back to using a basic 20+ year old cork opener. Just to let you know!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
