This V-beam is designed for WERNER fiberglass ladders. I have a WERNER 20ft aluminum extension ladder. This V-bar can be modified to fit other brands of ladders, both fiberglass and aluminum. The width between stair railings can be 13 to 14 inches. Assemble the V-bar and place it between the top rungs of the ladder. Each rung of the ladder has two holes drilled at the top of the rung. A pre-drilled metal plate serves as a hole template. The supplied bolts are inserted through the metal plate, the ladder and the V-beam. The nut is tightened to hold the V-beam, ladder guide and back plate to the ladder. Refer to the attached photos to see the placement and assembly I used for my staircase. Green color was used to mark the position of the holes and add contrast to the images.
