I've been using Samsung products since I switched to SSDs. They are the best and offer reliable performance. I have 850 EVO, 960 Pro, 960 EVO, 970 EVO Plus, 980 Pro and now 980 with 1TB storage at the same time. Each one is lightning fast, significantly faster than standard SATA SSDs. The 980 is clearly a great NVMe drive. I cloned this SSD and only used it as a backup drive. I am currently using 980 Pro. In fact, I can't really tell the difference between the two on a PCIE 3.0 motherboard. With an Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming PCIE 3.0 motherboard, this SSD is incredibly fast. Very happy with the performance. I agree with the argument that NVMe PCI Express Gen 4 drives probably wouldn't make much of a difference compared to fast PCIe Gen 3 SSDs. I know PCIe Gen5 SSDs aren't far behind. Also, the drives are obviously more expensive. When connected via an M.2 SSD to USB NVMe adapter, it failed to initialize. When I tried to initialize the disk through Disk Management, I got an error message like "This request cannot be completed because of an I/O device error" or "The device is not ready". Something is wrong with the cable or hard drive adapter. M.2 NVMe interface The internal SSD is simply initialized in the m.2 slot on the motherboard. It must also be installed in the M.2 slot closest to the CPU that has a direct connection to the CPU. was the only problem.Windows 10Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming Motherboard Intel Core i5-9600K4 X Crucial BLS8G4D32AESBK.M8FE 8GB DDR4-3200 DDR4 SDRAMNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 (6GB)Samsung Magician:Samsung SSD 980 1TBSerial (MB/s)Read 10268 Write 10341 Random (IOPS) Read 465576 Write 283935 This is a very high quality product and you will not be disappointed with its performance.
