Review on Lifetime 9594 Universal Mounting Kit by Dean Wildfang

Good but needs some work

The hardware is pretty solid and ends up being a solid assembly. Mounting to the wall of an old garage where the walls aren't perfectly vertical and the posts are 16 inches off-center presents some challenges, but that's true of any bracket. Since the siding has a zigzag overlap, you cannot mount the brackets flush with the siding as this will cause them to lean against the siding slope and throw everything off at an angle. I first bolted two pressure treated 2x4s to the wall with standoffs to make them vertical and level. and this provided a solid and vertical base for attaching the brackets. The instructions are a little confusing and you have to be careful which holes you use for each screw in the spacers or they won't match and there will be a lot of screws. It's easy to make a mistake and then you have to take it apart and start over. The kit is suitable for pole, wall or roof mounting and is not optimized for any of them. So this is a bit shaky. For example, a wall mount has more widely spaced bars that are much stronger than narrow bars with this kit. However, he endured a lot of high school prom hoopla.
