We have water from a common well, it's hard. Hard water caused white mineral stains to form on granite sinks within 7 years. With 2-handle faucets, people (as opposed to a 1-handle faucet, which is mostly located over the sink) turn off the water with their dripping hands, allowing the water droplets to dry and build up deposits. I applied poultplus 3 and covered with cling film for 48 hours. I scraped off the envelope while it was still damp and about 75% of the stain came out. I cleaned with a Scotchbrite plastic sponge (actually I used some sort of all-purpose sponge from Home Depot), which I checked wouldn't scratch the granite, and put everything else together. I've only tried a cleaning pad on a stain on another sink that I didn't apply an poultice to and it had almost no effect. I think the envelope softened some of the debris that initially didn't come off and allowed the sponge to do its job. The cleaning wasn't easy, even when mild, but better than just leaving it at 75%. I had 4 sinks in the house so not a fun activity.
