Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Security and Convenience: Prime-Line E 2104 Sliding Door Cylinder Lock with Schlage Keyway by Cory Spence

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works after some fiddling

Bought a pair of these to add locks to our two sliding glass doors. My plan was to replace them so my existing house key would fit in all the locks. I wanted to be able to go out the back door and lock the doors behind us. They appear to be of acceptable quality but do not take my original Schlage keys (which came with my very expensive front door fittings) without much fuss. The keyway is correct and fits the hammer, but the keyway is a bit tight (same on both units purchased). I say my original keys don't like that narrower slot. I have replaced them with keys that match my other doors that were plain at the local locksmith, but now I have to use copies of my original keys as these locksmith copies are a bit thinner and also fit these new locks on my dear facade. door locks. I certainly won't accuse Schlage of producing "thick" keys. I feel this aftermarket manufacturer should follow Schlage's lead, not the other way around. To be fair the keys that came with the devices worked great but they weren't the ones I had to work with. A little strange but everything is fine now as my original keys are sitting unused in the filing cabinet.
