This is a great pannier. Lots of space and I like the extra pockets for small items. We bought a bag to take my son's bike to him on our flight to Colorado and followed other reviews' advice. The bike doesn't offer much protection for this purpose, so I wrapped the gears and pedals (I couldn't get them off) and other protruding parts in bubble wrap. I then placed a large flattened cardboard box on either side of the bike to give the trunk some stability. On one side of the trunk there is a large inner pocket, in which cardboard fits perfectly. This was enough to protect the bike and it survived the flight unscathed. If I hadn't let the bag slide off the trolley it wouldn't have been damaged either, but there was a small hole where it scratched the sidewalk. Since we were flying to Colorado anyway, this option was significantly cheaper than shipping the bike.
