Review on Lewisia Submersible Fountain Pump with LED Light - Adjustable Flow for Garden, Pond, Waterfall, Aquarium, Fish Tank, Statuary, Pool, Bird Bath - 211 GPH by Stephanie Traub

Good pump. Outdoor use in a mini goldfish/cast iron tub pond

The light from this pump is minimal. I have a cave light in my cast iron tub outside the pond and it gives off a little light but nothing dramatic. I used a small box-like plastic box (e.g. strawberries can go in - there should be holes to allow water to flow) over the inlet side of the pump (cut out a hole to put on) lined with polyester batting (e.g. used for quilting) . over the outside of the box. The water is pumped through the cotton and the dirt is collected in the cotton. The cage/create creates a water area after batting to prevent the pump from being overloaded. I just use some rubber bands to hold it in place, but you could get fancier with that. This device clears cloudy water very quickly and keeps the water clear in a small pond the size of my cast iron bathtub. My pond has 2 koi, 2 goldfish, 2 kelp eaters, 3 black snails and usually 6 small to medium sized frogs. I take the basket/cotting off the pump about once a month and rinse it in a bucket of pond water (to keep the good bacteria) and put the pump/cage/cotting back on. A very easy way to get and maintain clean water. good pump for that.
