Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Motion Pro 08-0049 Tire Iron Set: Efficient Tire Changing Tools by Dave Hock

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality tools that suit me

I decided to try new tires on my Concours 1400. I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn more about the bike and learn a new skill. I bought these levers based on good reviews and also because they have three irons instead of two. The big black lever was the key to getting my tires off and getting new ones. Still, I spent about five hours removing and remounting the tires. The second tire was much faster but the biggest problem for me was getting the second bead off the rim. Installation was quick and took a few minutes. As another reviewer said, lubrication is key. I used Dawn dishwashing liquid. So there is nothing wrong with these levers; They don't tend to bend or break and are still like new. Maybe my tires were really big and very stiff. Or I had no idea what I was doing. But in the end the new tires are on and I've learned a lot about my new bike. I highly recommend this three lever set - in my case a fourth or even a fifth lever would help. Next time I'll probably go for one of those $50 "portable" tire changers with a giant pry bar and bead breaker. It wasn't a problem for me to break the bead - I just took the damn rubber off the rim. New ones are simply pressed by hand with sufficient pressure and lubrication. Try something new and have fun. Changing a tire is not rocket science. UPDATE: I bought another bike and installed a new tire using these tools. Apparently the Concours tires were difficult to pull off because they were so low and stiff. These levers made it possible to quickly remove the stock Dunlop tire from my new KLR 650 and fit a notoriously difficult new Avon Gripster tire. No problem.
