Most of the reviewers have pointed out most of the good and bad aspects of this scope. For the money, this isn't a bad option. The downside is that there are much better scopes out there for a bit more money. I have used the latest Vanguard binoculars and they perform very well and rival the more expensive models. However, their spotting scopes are far from that. Simply put, the optical quality and performance are underwhelming. If you don't have a reference, this spotting scope will probably look good on you. I highly recommend looking at other models and their price points in relation to their optical quality. The point is that a more expensive spotting scope DEFINITELY has better optical quality. (By quality I mean properties like contrast (sharpness), brightness and optical coverage.) So it comes down to how much you value that optical quality. However, I warn you that looking through a high-end spotting scope can be bad for your wallet. I highly recommend the new Vortex Razor HD models. And if there are financial opportunities, then consider models from Swarovski, Leica and Kowa.
