Problems with this spotting scope right out of the box!

This seems like a very good spotting scope but you need to heed the reviews. This scope is made in China, so the quality is not as expected. Vanguard advertises ED glass along with other features, which is nice and makes you feel like you're getting a quality product. Not so with the one I bought. The coarse focus knob quickly jammed, making it very difficult to turn. Remember this was brand new, straight out of the box. The fine focus knob seemed fine, but I wondered how quickly it would lock…

Good scope but not worth the price

Just ok, nothing more! It was definitely better, I mean a lot better than the Redfield Rampage, which I bought and immediately returned, but. After comparing it to my cheap $60 Simmons (20-60x60) I concluded it just wasn't worth the price difference. Don't just believe me, look at the pictures I made for you. Sure, with Vanguard you get more light and the glass doesn't have a slight yellow tinge, but clarity? Shouldn't something six times as expensive be at least as good? Tomorrow I'll take it…

Great place for the money!

I bought this scope for F class shooting at 500 and 1000 yards. Before that, I bought a brand, which is also popular in our circles, I don't know if I bought a lemon, but the power of 40-60 was terrible. Thank you Revain for the great return policy. This scope is well made and sturdy, very sharp and clear, a great scope for the money. Not on par with Ziess or Swarovski, but you usually get what you pay for with glass. I would say if you spend money on this and not the $300 range you will be…

Great scope for the money but buy it before you buy it

Most of the reviewers have pointed out most of the good and bad aspects of this scope. For the money, this isn't a bad option. The downside is that there are much better scopes out there for a bit more money. I have used the latest Vanguard binoculars and they perform very well and rival the more expensive models. However, their spotting scopes are far from that. Simply put, the optical quality and performance are underwhelming. If you don't have a reference, this spotting scope will probably…

Great scope for the money

Bought this scope six weeks ago and wanted to share my experience. As others have pointed out the scope is high quality, solidly built and delivers crisp, clear images for the price. I use the telescope for terrestrial observations and sometimes for lunar and planetary observations. Some might say it's too small for planetary observation, but the 82mm telescope is much larger than the 28mm telescope Galileo used to discover Jupiter's moons. And it's a much better telescope than Galileo's. I…
