At this price, this is a steal! I gave this telescope to my grandfather for his birthday. He spends a lot of time on the patio at night and is always looking at the stars, so I thought it was time to give him something he never knew, something he always wanted. Great rifle scope for beginners! After properly focusing the scope and looking at the moon, it almost feels like you can reach out and reach for it. Wonderful!

I got this for my dad and due to the high quality of the telescope he thought I paid an insane amount for it! It comes in a nice little backpack and even has a bit of extra space to put other stuff in it. I didn't photograph everything together, but it's beautiful! I'm only giving 4 stars in response to complaints about the tripod. It's really not strong, if stretched at all. It is difficult to maintain a constant angle (elevation or azimuth). So far I'm happy with this scope. I've used it quite a bit, but it does a good job when looking at the moon. I don't know why people expect Hubble results in reviews. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. It takes the moon and makes it look like a big ball that's placed a few inches from your eye and is pretty well focused. You can see a few craters on the moon, but you can't see Neil Armstrong's footprints. You can see the rings of Saturn, but you can't count them like a tree cut in half. My daughter and I had a lot of fun with this telescope. As already mentioned, a tripod is pretty much useless. I had an inexpensive (probably under $40 at the time) full size I bought a year ago for the camcorder I normally use with it. The Celestron Travel Riflescope is a good product for what it was made for. First of all, this is a ground-based telescope. The lens (large lens in front of the scope) is of good quality and functional.
