I have an ASUS IX CODE z270 and I use Samsung as the OS drive. When I first installed the drive, I put the cover back on to hide the M.2 slot. When I noticed that my drive wasn't working as expected, I started looking for solutions. One of the solutions suggested I could have a thermal choke, which I did; It was a controller that was a thermal choke. Before removing the cover, I ran the Samsung Magician Performance Benchmark. According to HWINFO64 I scored 50C on the Temp 1 drive and 81C on the Temp 2 drive. I removed the lid and ran the test again. This time I got about 40 degrees Celsius at hard disk temperature 1 and 61 degrees Celsius at temperature 2. I received this heatsink today. installed and run the test again. My disk 1 temperature peaked at 36ºC and disk 2 temperature peaked at 54ºC. Right now in standby mode I am looking at disk 1 temperature as 31ºC and disk 2 temperature as 37 °C. I don't have direct airflow to the M.2. More air bounces off my graphics card's water block. Thus, the graphics card does not add any heat. A total of 27 degrees of heat is lost between removing the cover and adding the radiator. I sincerely think this product is a great deal and worth 11.95!
