Review on Brother XR3774 Sewing and Quilting Machine: 37 Built-in Stitches, Wide Table, 8 Sewing Feet Included by Wendy Rodriguez

Missed stitches on THREE of them bought brand new.

Here's a suggestion: Studio I run in my town. I taught on the Brother XL-2600i (Sew Advance Sew Affordable) for six years. They have endured hours of daily use well. After two eventually fell in the dust, I looked for replacements only to find that Brother no longer makes them. I researched a ton and decided to buy 3 of these and try them before replacing them all. Since it is impractical for students to use machines of different styles, I decided to test only one of them in the project. 2 days later the reverse gear went out. Hmm strange. I opened another one and tried to finish my project. It got to the point where I had to use a zigzag. MISSED SEAMS. I'm a seamstress so I know exactly what can cause skipped stitches. I used exactly the right needle for my materials and it was brand new so there was no chance it was blunt or bent. So I opened the next box. He also skipped stitches. On this machine, literally every time the needle jumped to the right, that stitch was skipped. To prove to myself that it wasn't the fabric or the needle, I turned the dial manually and saw if the needle would "pick up" the bobbin on the right side. NO. Not once. Great. Since I didn't have time to take care of the problem that day, I put the machines aside and got to work. While I was in the studio, a woman who was having trouble with her sewing machine called me and asked if I could stop by to see if she was doing something wrong. Guys, guess what kind of car she bought and what she did with it. Guess. SPOILERS: It was this one, and he skipped stitches and "got stuck backwards at times." Brother where is the XL - 2600i? I bought them from Amazon in 2011 for $65 each and they've come this far. How is this car twice the size and bullshit right out of the box? I'm not thrilled to dig up my warranty to find out if I wiped my ass for $342.

Pros
  • AUTOMATIC NEEDLE AND TOP BOBBIN: This sewing machine has an automatic needle threader that perfectly guides the thread through the needle and a handy, pinch-proof insertable top bobbin
Cons
  • So far so good
