Great fan for cooling my Polaris Ranger Crew

I ordered this fan for my 2013 Polaris Ranger Crew as an extra engine cooling fan. The crew engine is mounted just below the passenger seat and after a short drive around the track the back seat gets very hot. The engine got so hot it actually cut out (even though the Polaris Ranger crew was liquid-cooled!). I installed this fan just under the passenger seat and attached it to the plastic side panel surrounding the engine. I connected the fan directly to the battery and placed the switch in the dash. I decided to do without the thermostat that turns on the fan automatically. Instead I went for the benefit of being able to flip a switch if I need to blow extra air over the motor when we're hitting trails at slow speeds etc. The fan has worked great so far. Another thing that impresses me about this fan is how quiet it is! Also, I can reverse the polarity of the fan simply by swapping the positive/negative wire on the battery. By reversing the polarity, I can direct engine heat away from the engine and into my team's cockpit. It's perfect for those cold late fall hunts here in West Virginia or when my family and I are out in the snow. One thing to know about this fan, I don't have curved blades as shown in the photos. I have contacted Derale and a customer service representative about this. informed me that the fan I received was correct, they actually found that small fans (9 inches and under) with straight blades produce more air and the noise made by straight blades is no more than that of curved wings.

Pros
  • Ultra quiet patented slanted blade design
Cons
  • No car
