Expensive but with six sensors included this was the best system for the price I could find for so many monitoring points. I bought it to monitor my apartment which is 7 hours / 400 miles away. With a downloadable phone app, you can monitor water leaks, temperature and humidity in six locations. If necessary, you can purchase additional sensors and add them to the system. All sensors are powered by a built-in battery. They communicate wirelessly with an internet-connected hub using AC wiring as an antenna (not Wi-Fi). This seems to work well if you plug the hub directly into a duplex AC outlet (DO NOT run it through a surge protector or wall outlet as they reduce the sensor signal received too much). You should also rotate the sensors to maximize signal reception using the surrounding AC wiring "antenna" (this can be done with a phone app that has a signal strength meter). If the Sensor Hub is having trouble maintaining or connecting to a sensor, an email notification will be sent and this will be reflected in the app when the sensors are polled. It took me a few trips around my apartment and a few experiments to finally get all the sensors working reliably, but once set up everything works great! A detected water leak triggers an audible download alert (even if your phone vibrates!), text messages, and emails. This is ideal as water damage is instantaneous and you don't want to risk just missing a text/email notification. Water leakage is detected by the metal contacts on the underside of the sensors. Something that costs $300 should at least have documentation in the box! However, the system works so well once set up properly that I will ignore these minor annoyances. Note, however, that installation and setup will take some time.
