I've been using this kettle for about half a year and wouldn't want to be without it anymore. I hate giving this product less than 5 stars as it really has been such an invaluable kitchen workhorse and worth every penny, but there are a few minor things I would like to improve. The built-in thermometer is really very practical, I wouldn't buy another kettle without it. This one is accurate, very responsive, and I get consistent coffee and tea with no guesswork. The kettle heats up quickly and keeps the temperature very well. It has a wide base that works well on my gas range. High quality stainless steel finish inside and out, handle is ergonomic and stays cool, and overall good quality construction. Very little maintenance and cleaning effort. The lid handle gets too hot to touch. At first I thought this wouldn't be a problem as you only have to open it to fill, but surprisingly I struggle with the hot lid quite often. I would have preferred it to be encased in the same plastic used in the handle base. The mechanism for closing the lid is just 3 tabs that are stamped from metal and bent outwards to hook into the hole on the kettle. This is the only part of the kettle that seems a bit cheap to me. It's not very tight, it rattles and I have to pull on it with a little more force than I think is necessary.
