This is a satin blend fabric. It didn't look or feel like silk - I carefully picked up some threads of fabric for the heat test. That failed - real silk smells like burnt hair, never melts. Should not be advertised as "100% Pure Silk Grade A". I can't tell exactly what the blend is - maybe nylon/cotton or nylon/silk? This is NOT 100% silk! But - beautiful and roomy, for long hair or curlers. The double face is great - satin should be worn shiny side down. I love the adjustable strap. And it's silky smooth. Silk is the best hair covering, but satin isn't bad either.
