It's a damn nut in brackets

It's fucking crazy. What can we say about nuts. It appears to meet ASTM standards, at least well enough to thread onto a bolt. I'm surprised that Revain couldn't be more selective about the products they request reviews for. So here it is: it has six (6) parts, the sides are the perfect size for a standard key - that's so smart of them. And it's laced with threads that twist upwards, which allows torque to be applied to the sides (remember there are six to choose from), and the genius of this is that the torque applied actually overcomes the friction and the converts rotational force into linear force, and that's what gets the nut moving first. Once the nut comes into contact with something that prevents it from moving in a straight line, the applied torque is now applied as a compressive force between the surface of the nut and the object it was in contact with. The real genius is that the thread pitch is calculated in such a way that the frictional forces don't allow the contact force to change the direction of movement.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine
