Purchased a 150 watt heat lamp for my daughter's pet hermit crab. We only tried one of the two lamps and it gets hot! In fact, my daughter accidentally burned the melamine surface of her desk. I measured with a temperature gun and registered 500 degrees Celsius at a distance of 3-4 inches. The penetrating heat feels really good on my hands from about 10 inches away. I would say it's like a hot, dry summer day in California. While this will work for us, I'll try to find something with slightly less wattage because I'm finding out the device I have is only rated for 75W.
