Like many people, I have too many electronics to connect. I hate unplugging one thing and trying to find a connector for another while being careful not to accidentally unplug the thing. I didn't want a bulky extension cord in my room so I decided to get one of these because I'd seen them hover for a while and was intrigued. Very easy to install, just unscrew the middle screw for the socket cover and put it on top. It occupies both sockets, the actual plug is at the top and the bottom is a plastic plug, like a childproof one. I recommend leaving the outlet cover down, as the surge protector doesn't fully cover bare wires when you remove it. It would also look very bad if security weren't enough of an incentive. This product comes with a longer screw that holds the surge protector in place and also holds the outlet cover in place. Make sure it's snug and secure, try rocking it a little to be sure. You may NOT need to loosen the outlet cap screw and use the screw that comes with the protective cover. You can just plug it in and leave it as is, but I highly recommend using the screw method as it increases the stability of the product. After all, they contain a screw. It works great, has a little backlight to let you know it's working/protecting and it's an all around fantastic product that saves me from hiding an ugly surge protector behind my bedside table.
