Review on SilverStone Technology Addressable Brightness SST LS04 by Micael Casillas

Stunning aesthetics - labor intensive installation

These light strips are incredibly beautiful, although not easy to install. It's very easy to plug them into an exposed 3-pin ARGB connector and get them working in RGB software. The tricky part is getting the light spread properly when it's set to 1 static color, which they don't do unless the strip is set in a straight line. This applies in particular to vertical mounting. LEDs are very finicky about their angle in a white package and show up as a dull spot when not aligned with an adjacent LED. I found that I had adjusted the clamps for over an hour to get a strip that looked like the marketing photos. Many types of adhesives don't like to stick to the body of the light diffuser, which is likely made of strong but non-stick silicone. . The supplied magnetic clips sometimes do not allow the strip to be mounted straight, which leads to incorrect light scattering. SilverStone with more than 3 mounting clips per strip would be useful for certain configurations. FYI: Both ends of the cables are 3-pin female connectors with a detachable male-to-male adapter. Because of this, the streaks appear to be reversible, but are not. SiverStone was considerate enough to include 2 separate 3 pin extension cables with detachable pins which I now prefer to the standard cables. long light strip with standard 3 pin connectors. Corsair isn't consumer oriented by using non-standard JST connectors. This makes Corsair even more expensive, as their fans and light bars require multiple adapters ranging from $10 to $20 if using a different brand of hub. Or buy an expensive Commander Pro Hub from Corsair. It's much cheaper to get more LEDs with SilverStone than to buy Corsair's lighting ecosystem. SilverStone light bars are reversible, which makes them stand out aesthetically from other brands.
