Review on πŸ’§ Floodstop XS-01: Enhance Your Water Appliance Safety with Additional Water Sensor by Jeff Vasquez

Good to have but not perfect

It's nice to have a leak sensor that shuts off water if there's a problem. I installed this under my DW and sink in case of leaks when I replaced the DW. I found a leak in the sink drain pipe, but there was no point in turning off the water in the combustion engine because it was already filled and emptied. When I was in the kitchen that morning, I heard a beep-beep-beep, so I knew I had to look around for the source of the noise. It beeps every 2-1/2 minutes so it took a while to narrow the source of the sound down to the under sink cabinet. Since it was plugged in, I expected if not a louder beep (I think a lot of people keep it in their closet) at least every 2-1/2 minutes since it has a mute button. Should be no less annoying than a dead battery smoke alarm! Since it has a contact closure (a nice feature btw) I'm going to hook it up to my alarm system which will alert me if a water leak is detected. For a few bucks, a built-in Z-Wave would be perfect. Or even an external accessory. It would be nice to set off a loud or remote alarm so someone can come and fix the leak. Whatever the case, you will most likely not hear the beeps until you either use the unit (e.g. visit the laundry) or find out why there is no hot water (e.g. the valve on the hot water tank). It is also nice that you can buy additional sensors to cover a larger area.
