Review on GTC GTC505 Engine Ignition Analyzer: Revolutionizing Engine Diagnosis and Performance by Erik Snyder

Great tool but absolutely no tech support!

First of all the meter works great! I have dso and got this for a quick test. Works great but instructions leave a lot to be desired. Very little study of the menus and functions. It took a few times to figure out how to use it to its full potential. If you don't know how to read oscilloscope data or ignition waveforms, the manual looks like Chinese. The best way to watch his Morton tst seminars is on YouTube. This should help with some questions about what you're watching. Second, the BNC connector does not attach securely. I've tried a few of these, sent them back and got a replacement, also on a tool trolley, and they all have a faulty BNC, meaning you have to hold a wand on top of the gauge to keep it from falling into the engine bay and lost go or be melted. Third, if you detect a high voltage leak, the scope will be thrown out, and since there is no ground wire, the shielding will be damaged. The simple fix is to just cycle the scope on and off and test it somewhere else on the wire or coil. Most leaks occur either closer to the cap or plug, or to the coil and boot, so stay centered on the spark plug leads and the center top of the coil.
