Review on πŸ”Œ Residential Non-Grounding Polarized Plug, Straight Blade, Light Duty, 2 Wire Plug, 2P, 2W, 15 Amp, White (4 Pack) by Justin Puranik

Only for rare use with low current!

I find the rotatable connector practical. The fork's ability to pivot to a "straight" position makes engagement/disengagement easier. 90 degree left/right swivel capability allows wall anchors to be installed in tight spaces behind furniture or beds. That's the good part. The problem with these plugs is that they are very light - although they are rated for 10A (not 15A as the description says) I wouldn't want to connect these plugs to a device that draws even half the current rating of the plug pulls. The pins of the connector are thin. If the socket is worn out from use, the plug may not be able to make a low-resistance contact in the socket. This can cause the plug/socket and/or power cord to overheat when energized. Also, the plug may not fit the outlet properly. I use bedside lamps fitted with LED bulbs, so the current drawn is nowhere near a tenth of the plug's rated current. So overheating of the connector and contacts is unlikely. The internal hinges and cable ties are barely enough for 10A current consumption or constant turning/use. I modified the plugs by silver soldering wire contact blocks to the contact teeth and improved the swivels with better fasteners to hold the swivels together. I shouldn't have done that. I think these plugs would be suitable for infrequent low current use e.g. B. Bedside lamps where the plugs rarely move. If the connectors keep turning or sticking, I think the hinges are worn. Another thing is that the plugs are not polarized. Great idea, more product improvements needed.
