Does not switch off Spare parts for microwave

I installed one of these in our Whirlpool Gold microwave. The microwave has high, low and off hood light settings. The light comes on at both high and low settings, but does not go out when the setting is off. Good amount of light at high settings. Not sure what it is. Basically we have a night light in the kitchen. Does anyone else have this problem?
