Runs small as it is a men's shoe. Look at the photo of the male version. It's exactly the same. Ordered 3 different women's HD shoes (Bateman Metal, Bateman Ankle Pro and Sylvan) based on reviews for 9, 8.5 and 8. These are all men's shoes and they were all large. I wear size 9 women's shoes/boots all day, every day. I knew as soon as I opened the box that these were men's shoes. Size 8 was close to size but still a bit large just enough to feel weird and uncomfortable walking inside. So men's shoes between size 7.5 and 8 fit me. They are also bulky and narrow. Maybe they will soften with wear. Ankle pro was the worst. It had very stiff, cheap-looking leather, and the padding around the ankle was rough. Sylvan was smoothest with better quality leather but no padding. They didn't seem to stand up to a change and it was uncomfortable to walk in them because the heel was rough inside and my heel slipped because they were big. Bateman Metal has a pebble that feels better than Ankle Pro. but was still uneven and slightly bulbous on the inside at the ankle and various seams. I was looking for something lighter than my riding boots that I could walk in comfortably. Unfortunately that's not an answer for me.
