This is a lightweight harness with minimal restrictions for a cat and I think *if installed correctly* it is very reliable. I have several harnesses and my cat is definitely the most comfortable in this one. However, I had many issues with the black rubber pad that kept slipping back. The harness started slipping off my cat's shoulders when walking - just walked without struggling against her or other strenuous activity. I often had to stop and adjust the rubber seal, which was irritating for both me and my cat. From the reviews I see that many people have had this problem as well. I know my harness (medium) is the right size because I also have a small and it's too tight for my cat even when fully stretched, so it's not a size issue. The problem is they need to find a better way to attach the strap to their shoulders than a sliding rubber pad. In the meantime I found a way to secure the leash. I tie a knot at the top of the shoulder where the padding should end (see photo). It's not elegant, but it's a non-permanent fix that you can undo if needed. That makes the strap a bit more difficult to remove - to make enough room for your head, you'll either have to unbuckle it or slide the chest tab all the way. But I think it's worth putting a little extra effort to properly attach the harness. I hope this will help others who are struggling with seat belt slippage.
