I don't know why I've never used them. You spend much less food and have a better overview of how your aquatic animals are eating. I just unscrewed the plate from the tube. Leave the plate at the bottom of the aquarium and use the snorkel to direct the food into the plate while feeding. When feeding is finished, I just leave the tube on the aquarium trolley.
