Review on ๐Ÿงญ Optimize Your Fieldwork with the Harbin Geological Compass DQL-8: A Reliable and Efficient Tool by Kris Feezy

Not recommended for outdoor use

This item would make a good display for your bookshelf. However, if you use it in the field, here are some things to keep in mind. The rear sight is overstressed, which can lead to the destruction of the glass and/or mirror. The mirror appears to be plastic. It is VERY easy to scratch, for example with a fingernail or a callus on the fingers. The main azimuth points are covered by some kind of hole in them. On the plus side, the case, hinges, and other hardware seem adequate. The compass needle is well constructed (as for the northern hemisphere) and snaps in properly. In reasonable proximity there is an acceptable difference between my phone and compass readings (+/-2ยฐ). If you use this compass in the field to make maps, spend the extra money to get a real Brunton. All in all, the reason I sent mine back is because of the design of the mirror.
