No need to size up.
I typically wear a 10-12 dress size. I ordered an XL but I am returning for a smaller size (large). The pictures are in the XL size. The material is really constricting, to hold you in, but it needed to be tighter. I thought it would be better to have it loose but it is definitely designed to suck you in. The straps are not adjustable.
